Yeah, they are a musical exploitation film mixed with a peep show.

I love the Cramps! Lux Interior knew how to work the crowd and put on a great show!

Picked this up at Amoeba the other day - I wondered if it was something new but apparently it's just a 10" vinyl release of an old CD single. Not sure if this is the first in a series but if it were, I'd definitely be interested. Ivy loves to show off her butt, God bless her.

I was just at the Hollywood store. Main advantage over SF and Berkeley is that it's just huge. They had a really good stock of foreign rock titles also, like Bloody Hammers and stuff that is usually really hard to find in the US. Great soundtrack section too, as one would expect.

I usually go to SF or Berkeley because they are closer to home. I would say the SF store started going downhill a little a few years ago, and now Berkeley seems to be following suit. Less and less selection, but I think it's because of the overhead.

My record store clerk buddies tell me that records are so expensive even at wholesale prices, that retailers can't risk stocking something that doesn't sell because, unlike CD's, distributors won't take back unsold LP's. So even places like Amoeba, where you used to be able to find darn near anything, don't have near the selection that they used to. And all this because the Music Industry wants me to pay $35 for a new version of a 20 year old record. That's why I think this recent vinyl boom is a bit of a mixed bag for fans and consumers...

Yeah, I definitely have to agree. I used to save my lunch money to buy CDs, you could find damn near anything used for like 5-7$. Now used is like 10$, new is upwards of 15$ before tax even. Still, it beats just about anywhere else as a catch-all obscure or 'under-the-radar' music. The specialty shops are where you wanna go for really genre-specific stuff. It's definitely a shame but the place is such a landmark I can't see it going much further south. Then, that's what they said about the Red Vic and the Vogue... Scary times in San Francisco, these days. When the Haight's startin to look like Fishermen's Wharf you know somethin ain't right.
