So after enough listens of Trap Lord, I've decided that I like it but it's not as good as Rocky's debut. The beats are really good though and really hard hitting, unlike Rocky's debut. Ferg is a capable rapper but not much for lyricism. A couple tracks though find him reflecting on his life and his issues.

The album doesn't feel cohesive though and really DOES feel like a mixtape. There just isn't much cohesion or continuity to me. Definitely a worthwhile listen though. Great beats, decent rapping, and a collection of decent to good tracks.

When you say Rocky's debut, do you mean LongLive or LiveLove?

I like Trap Lord...to an extent.
It's nothing original and Ferg's rapping ability is lower than average but that being said if Kid Cudi and A$AP Rocky get by on the same basis, so can Ferg.
Shabba Ranks is obviously a banger and Cocaine Castle is pretty cool as the chilled outro, I feel it's similar to D.Brown's Party All The Time.
But the track Work is so irritating, with the most nauseating instrumental I've ever heard and what even is 4:02, is it a skit? It's surely not an actual rap track.
Oh yeah, and I strongly dislike bone thugs n harmony, so the track with them's a none starter for me also.
It's neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned, decent but so much room for improvement. If Ferg's to continue on playing at being a rapper, he needs to find his own identity, being A$AP Rocky's less talented clone isn't a platinum selling gimmick.

What's your beef with bone thugs and harmony?

They stand out on that track and dominate it.

I hate the way they sound, it's so unnatural and jumpy that it just irks me. All the members sound the same and none of them engage or hold my interest at all.

okay understandable. I actually love the way they sound and the whole sing songy thing they do that pioneered the way for the way that certain rappers sing and rap nowadays like Drake and J. Cole.

Big Sean pioneered the one word punchline that Drake started using not his whole sound.

Drake is a mix of influences of other rappers before his time.
