I think sometimes Talib's just easier to listen to.
I'm not always in the frame of mind for Chuck D's brand of aggression towards the man.

Keep the votes coming in guys, new tie up tomorrow.

From the little I've heard from the two, I would have to give it up to Talib in terms of MCing skill. Chuck D's strength comes largely with the Public Enemy stable, ie. Flav's hype and X's beats (especially) and is more of an orator who rhymes than a real slick spitter.

I'm gonna do it. I'm pulling for Cube!

1-0 Ice Cube

Never thought much of Dre. I don't see my vote changing, but I'll pay attention to what Dre voters have to say.

Two former members of Niggaz Wit' Attitude, Dre and Cube.
Both have went on to have successful solo careers going rather different ways about obtaining said success.

Once revered as the 'CIA's most wanted rapper' Ice Cube was NWA's star attraction. For years he was considered one of the most bad men in gangsta rap with controversial lyrics about the Los Angeles Police Department, race and equality issues.
The Chuck D of his time, if you will.
However, that man is a far cry from the ex rapper who would appear in terrible family movies such as 'Are We There Yet' in later years.

On the other hand Dr.Dre has primarily stuck to musical pursuits assuming the role of producer for many other acts such as Eminem, The Game and more recently Kendrick Lemar.
However, Dr himself is a long way away from the character that brought us hits such as Nuthin' But A G Thang and Still D.R.E

So, I guess both men have mellowed out in later years so we shall have to look at their pasts to see why they are considered such pivotal figures in hip-hop.

In terms of solo output on a strictly MC'ing front, Ice Cube has put out 9 studio albums as opposed to Dre's 2.
But one has to take into account how Dre has focused primarily on producing throughout his career whilst Cube has always been an MC.

Anyway, here are two more tracks from each dude. Make your own minds up.

Dre is one of the best producers in the history of hip hop, but this is just about MC-ing, right? Then it's Cube easily. He's a terrific fusion of style and substance. I love the guy. He really deserves his status as one of the greats.

Cube: 2
Dre: 0

See, my issue with calling Cube one of the greats is how far he has fallen off.
I guess if Pac or Biggie had lived they'd have probably done the same, yet nobody discounts their legacy because they didn't have a chance to tarnish their reputations.

I could see Pac starring in an Adam Sandler movie, Biggie probably would've gone down the Dre route or even the Diddy route with his own clothing line and whatnot.

Anyway, I'm going with Cube because in his prime he was really good, and Dre was always at his best behind the production desk rather than the microphone.

Cube: 3
Dre: 0
