There are so many dub records out there, it is hard to know where to start! So much early dub was never released as the sounds would differ day to day depending on where they were playing their soundsystems. Consequently some classics became lost and others pop up (sometimes without copyright) on a multitude of bargain bin release which vary in quality. I will up a few dub comps over the next couple of weeks but in the meantime try and find stuff by:

Lee SCRATCH Perry ( the Godfather of Dub)
King Tubby
Augustus Pablo
Scientist
Mad Professor.

Here's a classic dancehall clash recorded at Lewisham Boy's Club, London, 1983.

It's Saxon (represented by Papa Levi) vs. Ghettotone soundsystem (Leslie Lyrics). Legendary set, 2 parts, lots of **** talk between riddims (mainly from Papa Levi) and escalating insults before a show of hands for the prize money at the end.

Papa Levi (the one with the higher voice) opens.

The sound quality is ofcourse not perfect, but nice and audible, the volume goes up about 10 minutes in I think.
If you are eager to trace the beginnings of the dancehall/hip hop connection and the beginnings of the yardie flow (later heard in ragga, hardcore, drum n'bass, grime and erm, Baha Men) you ought to check this out.

So did Rainard listen to the comp or was I just wasting my time as usual?

Yeah I did listen I will write some feedback later. Sorry, uni's been f'cking rough recently. Final year and writing my last ever essay. So good, and quite BAD times.

But no you certainly didn't waste your time. Speak later.
