And if I had had a life back when this thread started I would have refuted such an untruth as that.

You realize he plays all downstrokes correct?

Not to mention he plays with a great deal of emotion, attitude, and plays it with speed. This isn't something many guitar players can pull off.

I've looked a few pages back and haven't been able to find anything but you saying people are stupid for their favorite guitarists. Could you say who yours would be?
Because, gessing by your name alone, I'd be inclined to believe you like Petrucci (sp?) =/ and he just plays fast...meh =/

Yah, I think Petrucci is great riff writer, and a very technically skilled player. Your emotion point is moot by the way. Still haven't showed me how he's the greatest.

how the hell is emotion moot?

Being great, to a certain point, is about personal preference. When I hear Zakk play (especially live) it blows me away, he amazes me with technical ability AS WELL AS the emotion he uses (see book of shadows for reference).
Petrucci does absolutely nothing for me, like Malmsteen. He's fast, as all hell, but when he plays it's like he's saying, "hey look how fast and perfect I can play" whereas with other guitar players whom I like it's like, "hey, this is how I was feeling at the time I played and recorded this."
The combination of emotion and ability is rare IMO.

But then again, David Gilmour is one of my favorite guitar players ever; and that has nothing to do with technical ability or speed.

I don't hear emotion emanating from Wylde's guitar, so yah, I would consider it a moot point.

Ok, well that's you. I've seen him make people cry with his stuff. Listen to some of his accoustic stuff. Youtube dead as yesterday, you might be surprised.

Acoustic might have his distinctive style show through more, but with electric...
