Annihilator's new song - Armed to the teeth. Always good to have some new Annihilator. Good song and the usual bad video. They should just record themselves playing, it will be better.

Soufly's Dark Ages is redundant af but too sick to deny.

so many times I've thought about Stormcrowfleet and figured that I would be about it, then give it a taste and usually end up sampling the other Skepticism albums and for some reason thinking they all sound way more badass and memorable. I understand that it's a funeral doom album and I just gotta listen to it all and get the big picture, and some day I will, but what I hear there seems lacking compared to the allure of the other albums. The debut sounds almost thin and kinda fragile, like it's not completely filling the sonic dimensions it tries and ought to.

I have now however listened to Farmakon in full and it's utterly rad

I felt that way about Thergothon a little bit too. They grew on me a bit.

Yeah the production is definitely a bit thin if you compare it to later funeral doom but I don't think the writing is at all to blame. It's a niche genre with little money to make from it and I imagine that was 10x more true when it was in its infancy. Still a tight album.

Possibly the most raucous and fun but still utterly pummeling and raw grindcore album out there.

That is in fact the jam. Supposedly written after Nikki Sixx tried calling his long lost father and was rebuffed.
