I think this might possibly be the least dated, most accessible to outsiders traditional heavy metal album ever made. It still makes corny missteps and isn't perfect but the songwriting is strong and catchy and could have been a non-embarrassing alternative to butt rock on radio stations that play butt rock and legitimately killed given the right chance. That's loaded praise but Symbol of Salvation is still a bombass album and "Reign of Fire" and "Last Train Home" could have been #1 hit singles.

^ Pretty good stuff. Armored Saint are underrated in general.

Revisiting my favorite metal album of 2017...yep, still good. This cooks like Queensryche's Empire album but with a thrashier edge. The way this track in particular shifts gears midway through and builds to a ripping finale is amazing.

Doesn't get more numbskull brutal than this masterpiece of progressive myopia. It's amazing just how perfectly they mesh brutal death metal and slam death metal. Like it's just one concrete slab after another shattering your skull.

Been loving this ever since you recced it a few years ago. My go-to DM album if I just want to have stupid, punishing fun, not the proggy stuff I usually like.
