Got a hold of Ride the Lightning by Metallica, but after once I heard Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? by Megadeth it just launched from there.

Dimmu Borgir's Sympozium is what really got me into it. I'd flirted with various metals before, Sympozium led me to actively seeking out a specific kind of sound. Iron Maiden is probably my favorite metal band, but Dickinson's vocals are an acquired taste.

DB definitely had a pretty big impact on me too. Vortex's vocals were the first cleans in metal, and overall the band had that first metal mixed with classical instruments sound, that I REALLY enjoyed. Went on to seek less growls and more violins afterwards.

I never listened to Lamb of God again.

Yes! I especially like his vocals in Sympozium and Sacrilegious Scorn.
