I get the hate, but still, there's still some good nostalgia about Nu Metal songs from back in the day, maybe a bit like Vengaboys and Spice girls too.... Then it was cool to hate it, but now I just don't really care. Still love SOAD and Skindred though.

I feel that saying Nu Metal is limited, as a sub-genre, because it doesn't have much room for improvement, is just as narrow-minded as the Nu-metal fanboys themselves. Metal as a whole genre tends to be dark and grueling, but that doesn't mean it has exceptions and we've seen them. Tenacious D (though saying they are a true band is a stretch) puts a whole comedic spin on the genre, and just as you guys said, SOAD is a good example for Nu-metal. They put a comedic spin on some very controversial topics.

A lot could be done with the genre, but as with everything else, it goes to marketability; it goes down what makes the most money? More of the same, profit off of someone else's success. The genre could be expanded upon, but with sythesation increasing in popularity, Nu-metal is due to take a back seat. So, we will see if it stands the test of time.

Nu Metal has some good bands and some good albums, but isn't there a reason why the genre itself doesn't get mentioned much in media and is just generalized into 'metal'?

I'd say nu metal gets so much hatred because it's barely even metal. Some of the artists are all right, but they shouldn't be considered metal and they blend in with all modern rock and/or rap rock. Some of the stage costumes are ridiculous, too *ahem* Slipknot *ahem*.

ive said this many times

Heavy metal is like Judas preist testament and Manowar

of course KORN deftones slipknot dont sound like that most NU metal bands never claimed to be Metal ..thats just what other idiots labeled them

and slipknots Coveralls and masks at the start were badass IMO deff added a shock value

Testament is thrash metal and Manowar is heavy/power metal. The thing is, I don't really see the relation between nu metal and heavy metal. Of course, nu metal originated in classic heavy metal, but it's come to a point where it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it anymore. Linkin Park doesn't sound metal at all, at least not to me. Btw, I laughed when I first saw Slipknot, so te shock value must have failed.
