I actually always thought Steve Miller wrote jet airliner, I didn't know there was an original version by Paul Pena. Thanks for the info and video.

I'm familiar with Millers Jet Airliner and The Joker and most of his other more upbeat songs. I think that's one reason I listen to the more mellow ones these days, most of his popular material has been so over played through the years.

The founding member and bass player for the Steve Miller Band, Lonnie Turner died of cancer at the age of 66.
He often dressed a lot like Jimi Hendrix on stage and played an upside down P- Bass left handed. he would really pop & funk up the bass lines on fly like an eagle in particular.

The thing that surprises me about this thread is that many MBers aren`t familliar with some of these "household name" artists. I thought everybody would know their material inside out.

Having said that, for myself, tbh, I don`t know much of Steve Miller`s material beyond those over-played hits we`ve mentioned. I`m familiar with one album apiece from Springsteen and Billy Joel, but that`s about it: zero on Petty and Adams, and I`ve never even heard of Seger or Cougar.

As for Jackson Browne and Boz Skaggs, I checked them out once on Youtube, but didn`t find anything that blew me away particularly. I recall that Boz Skaggs made an album with Duanne Allman didn`t he?

No, I don't know anything about Skaggs & Allman. It sounds like something interesting to check into.

I guess most members here evidently don't listen to very much classic rock radio.

Billy Joel puts on a really good show. If you can get tickets, it's well worth it.

It's not always necessarily an age thing, though age does have a lot to do with the reason why a lot of the younger people are not familiar with any of the bands listed as well.
I haven't listened to most of these artist for years myself, I'm mainly just speaking from memory.
Regardless, it's all a matter of personal preference and musical taste as to whom and what kind of music you like to listen to. I think most are not interested either way.
I am actually surprised at the response received thus far.

Also, remember the correct spelling in case someone mixes
it up with Ricky Skaggs. Here's the Fenton Robinson tune
they did together (also, I never listened to those poll artists back
when they were popular, so it's not just necessarily an age thing):

That`s a great blues track - long and leisurely. Did they really only do one track together? That`s probably why I didn`t follow up on the whole album. Thanks also for picking me up on the spelling of his name. It`s important because, rather like Duster Bennett, his name is one of the more memorable things about him!

This poll is less 'most favourite' more 'least unfavourite'. Not a fan of any but Springsteen has a few good songs.
