Babymetal is a marriage of pop and metal. It's nothing original, and the only thing that's unique about it is the annoyance factor, which I can't find anywhere else, thankfully. Even Beck's newest material, which I agree sucks, is better than the one song I've heard from Babymetal.

I don't need to take something seriously to be entertained by it.

Well technically, I only asked why he would listen to the music if he didn't take it seriously, for starters. I was trying to make a point.

I actually do listen to music that I don't take seriously, such as Weird Al, Cars Can Be Blue, as well as other audio forms of entertainment that isn't meant to be taken seriously, like stand-up comedy.

If it was just the regular cheesy metal, I'd agree with you, but the musicianship on this is actually pretty decent.

I don't know about you, but if Weird Al suddenly started playing jazz fusion song parodies with The Mahavishnu Orchestra backing him up, I'd say he was trying to take himself pretty seriously.

How can you even like music that you don't take seriously, at least to some extent, whether it be the musicianship, the lyrics, etc.
I'm not sure I understand your question to be honest. Maybe we just have different ideas about what it means to take music seriously.

Im betting going to a Babymetal show would be the most amount of fun. As much as my metal elitism is trying to tell me that i hate them, i would absolutely go to a show if i could.

I just dislike it because the Metal in their songs typically sounds bland, boring, as well as filled with cliches. Also this isn't really just Pop with Death Metal, in two songs I've heard by them there were definitely two Deathcore breakdowns, which aren't really found in Death Metal. The Pop parts don't really add anything either for me, though they are mildly enjoyable. Also, I'm not usually one to care about a music group's image, but they just seem way too gimmicky for me. And no, I'm not a Metal elitist, and neither am I opposed to experimental Metal groups from Asia, since probably my all time favourite band is Sigh.

Same way I can enjoy McDonald's. It's garbage food made of Grade Q ingredients and made by teenagers getting paid minimum wage who may or may not know how to turn on a stove. It's not food I take seriously, but I still like it.

This basicly describes me liking any song/band that I don't take seriously, especially because I have the exact same feelings towards McDonalds.
