Kinda sucks you had to tie all doom together instead of having seperate categories for sludge and stoner. Why drone then? I mean, I can dig some drone now and then, but I'd rather listen to 10 stoner metal albums.

It's obvious that he wants me to post in his thread again. He just doesn't want to come right out and say it. We usually keep the sappy stuff to PMs.

Keep in mind, this thread started literally just over a year ago, when there had only ever been one survivor thread, and the whole thing with having five million categories in the Rock Album Survivor thread wasn't yet a thing. I had something like twenty categories already, and wasn't looking to throw in all that many more at the time.

But stoner and sludge were separate from doom, in case that wasn't clear. I combined stoner and sludge, though, because A.) there's a lot of overlap, and B.) it's surprisingly difficult to find straight up sludge albums due to post-metal being considered "atmospheric sludge". I'd look for albums to put into sludge and get a bunch of Neurosis and Isis albums, cause that's exactly what I want when looking for something like Eyehategod or Down.

I honestly don't remember if I added drone later on, though, or if it was always its own list. I think it's the former. So that would be why stoner and sludge are combined and drone isn't.

Guess I was mistaken before. A little Neurosis never hurt anyone.

That's what post-metal is for. And if by "hurt" you mean "bored", then I must disagree. Post-metal will be quite possibly the only genre I will actually have to sit out, due to a complete lack of interest in any of the albums I've already listened to. Even Neurosis.
