6-9 are the worst, did the bands randomly enter your mind in the order you listed them?

6. Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos
7. Dark Tranquility - The Gallery
8. Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges
9. Hypocrisy - Abducted

I do not like Soilwork. I do not like Arch Enemy. It's been a while since I listened to Dark Tranquility, but I don't much like them either. I honestly can't remember what Hypocrisy sound like.

Honestly, if I hadn't been banned when this battle was being announced I probably would have made some alterations. Thankfully TLP didn't announce post-thrash or else I would have demanded a recall, because it needs some ****ing work.

Still, no matter what albums were on this battle, it was always going to end up in a head-to-head between Carcass and At the Gates. That's really the only battle that matters.

I think you're right. And I also didn't remember Hypocrisy (did listen briefly before I voted). I really love the Amon Amarth album, sad that it's going down so fast.

Soilwork
Children of Bodom
In Flames
Dark Tranquility

For me Soilwork were easily the worst, and like Batty said Carcass and At the Gates easily the best, I had a harder time placing all the middle ones though. They are all technically good bands but some succeed better than others when it comes to atmosphere and mood. In Flames have some good ideas but the constant lead guitars playing in parallel thirds starts getting pretty old. Yes it sounds cool but it's the only trick they seem to use, over and over.

I really wish I'd had the time to chuck Soilwork and replace them with a band who aren't awful, like Edge of Sanity or something. They do not deserve to be on any list. And while the In Flames album is cool, my personal favorite has always been Clayman. Takes all the best things from their "good" albums, while combining it with the pop sex that would forever after be used to diminishing returns on subsequent releases. Too bad I'm in the relative minority.

I also hope that Amon Amarth doesn't get voted off too early. They have a different sound than the rest that really nails everything that's fun about metal. They have a tendency to be either fantastic or boring, but at the very least they have a unique sound that is immediately recognizable.

I know I'm probably one of the only ones, but I'd also like CoB last longer. I kinda wish I'd used Hatecrew Deathroll instead of Follow the Reaper, as I think it showcases their particular, Maiden-meets-thrash-with-a-cock-rock-swagger attitude better than the former, but that's still a pretty awesome album. Perhaps overrated by mainstream metal fans, but definitely underrated by metal snobs. And they actually have songs that are actually distinguishable from one another, unlike way too many metal bands.

I'm with you on Clayman being the superior album. I honestly didn't know that The Jester Race was the more highly regarded album. It's missing the catchy, stick in your head hooks that make nearly every track on Clayman fantastic.
