That's kind of what I was curious about too. He talks about Tool today as if they've been actively releasing music in the last couple years.

They're recording right now and it's not metal. Maynard and Adam have even said that more than once they don't see Tool as a metal band. It's not my opinion it's the truth.

You going to argue with their own words go ahead.

Band is Prog Rock.

Deal with it.

Who gives a **** about a single era? When I refer to the band it's generally as a whole. I could say that Frank Zappa was a modern classical composer and a doowop artist. They'd both be right. Same goes for Metallica and thrash. Pretty simple concept.

They've been "recording a new album" for the last 9 years.

I've always thought Tool had been influenced heavily by Black Sabbath. I hear it even in their most recent album 10,000 Days. It's much more subtle now and not nearly what I'd call a dominate trait to their music, but you could pick it out if you cared to.

Tool is metal. And what this guy who has been ranting about how they're not, is just ignorant drivel. It's like he's got it in his head that a band has to sound a certain way or carry a certain level of intensity in their music to be a metal band. Metal isn't this boxed in genre anymore, it's grown, and it has it's obvious sub genre. It even did back when it was still a new sound tickling the ball hair of music listeners all over man. So I don't know where this Neurotripsicks gets their information about what metal is, but the guy is way off base here. And whether or not the members of Tool consider Tool a 'metal' band, does not matter to me. And it's a hilarious tactic for Neurotripsicks to use to attempt proving just how right he thinks he is on the matter. "Tool says they're not a Metal band so I'm right you guys!!!!" L...O...L...

Short of what I think of Tool is this. I love the band, put on an awesome live show when I saw them a few years back. They're not everyone's cup of tea. But that's fine by me.

Opiate isn't even metal. That is Rock.

Really seriously starting to piss me off right now...and I have quite a tolerance for ignorance.

I saw them on their 10,000 Days tour back in 07, and it's probably the best show i've ever seen.

That's what happens when posters pop pills before posting, they end up imagining all types of tosh.

Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus and 1O,OOO Days are not metal.

If anyone thinks so they're misinformed.
