But yeah, it's a good list. Realistically I only really need to listen to two of these in its entirety and parts of three others. It shouldn't take longer than a couple days for me to rank this group realistically.

This should be fun
Not my list, but good suggestions, thanks. I'm open to your changes re: Beatles and S&G but which album would you say could be taken off to make room for R.E.M.?
As far as Rubber Soul is concerned I'd guess it wasn't included because the Beatles are already represented on 2 other lists (Abbey Road for Pop Rock and Sgt. Pepper' for Psychedelic rock) so it was possibly deliberately left out to avoid the same bands cropping up too many times. The one that bothers me is the fact that Revolver shows up nowhere in any of the lists. Something tells me we need more wild card rounds to do great albums that didn't fit in anywhere else

I thought Rubber Soul because it was the Beatles' definitive folk rock album, very influenced by Dylan. I'm not sure what I'd replace Murmur with. I thought about replacing Basket of Light but that truly belongs on this list, they all do really. I'm sorry Fairport Convention is also not on this list, but like you say, where would you put them?

I guess since we could do a wild card round or two we could put Murmur on one of those lists (Same with ATMP and Bridge Over Troubled Water). So many great albums.

Yeah, I'm already conceptualising a new wild card round that would have the albums you mentioned as well as Revolver, The Cure's Disintegration (though I'm half considering putting that on the Gothic Rock list in place of Pornography) and a few others

edit: when I announce the battle I'll be putting Sounds of Silence and Rubber Soul on there like RS suggested, but Murmur can go on the wild card list. That alright with everyone?

I don't have a problem with the list. It just means I have much more to listen to this week.

Mods: feel free to lock this thread, as it most probably won't need to be open any more

I'd need to listen to all of them, except for Neil Young, so either count me out or give me a month. Yeah, I'm deep in a hundred projects at the moment. Might be as well for me to sit this one out, otherwise I'll probably just delay everyone.

P.S. Glad to see we were able to buck the trend and not just rubber-stamp Close to the Edge into the winner's enclosure. Never get why it always wins best prog album. Congrats to KC!

Really? Even Rubber Soul? Well alright, it's up to you if you don't have the time. You're of course welcome to join in at any point during the battle, should it become more convenient for you. I'm sure we're all happy to have you along
