anyway, on the subject of frontwomen in rock:
Maybe surprisingly I've never been very into the Pretenders, but I gave them another listen recently and goddamn, Chrissie Hynde's vocals on Precious. Every time she says 'precious' the butterflies in my stomach go

Amazing song.

We were talking about her here at home, I think, on Friday.
Her latest is her singing Dylan whom the both of us looooathe.
Her attempts at solo albums lately have fallen flat - real flat -
but that last Pretenders album from last year is actually
pretty good if you were into the early albums.

hey yeah that's nice. I guess my issue with the Pretenders is that their sound is quite classic rock in a way that doesn't stand out, and I feel like they often don't have enough merits to make up for that, but they can be really neat

yes Joan Jett is everything

I recently discovered she has covered Roadrunner and it gave me that immense happiness of two of your favourite things merging in a way that works. She has a kind of swaggering machismo that's so delightful. There's a slightly different version on spotify which I prefer but this is nice too:
