OK, I guess the Beatles are just too special for me. I've been listening to them my whole life, I know there've been bands "technically" better than them, but I know for sure they win in songwriting.
1. The Beatles
2. The Who (But The Kinks are sooo great, too. Difficult to choose)
3. The Kinks
4. The Yardbirds (Eric, Jeff and Jimmy in the same band? Are you kidding me?)
5. The Animals (They were OK)
6. The Rolling Stones (Don't kill me, I just can't stand Mick Jagger)
7. Small Faces (Haven't heard anything from them)

The Beatles then Stones then The Who then The Kinks. 'Art Lover' is such an underrated Kinks song.

Aside from the Beatles, my favourite British Invasion band - at that time (ca. 1964) was The Dave Clark Five. They had lots of melodic, up-tempo songs. The kind of songs I liked.

I voted The Beatles because I still play The White Album and it still sounds great.

The Stones have longevity but at no time during their career were they the best band.

'Who's Next' has aged well for me.

The Kinks, I really like The Kinks because they are incredibly personal and quirky. They are anti-heroes. I still listen to these guys nearly as often as The Beatles.

I voted for The Kinks. But there were so many other great British Invasion bands such as The Zombies, The Animals…the list goes on and on.

Hi neighbor, you are right about other great bands from the British Invasion.

I saw The Zombies about 20 years ago and it was pretty mediocre but opening was Denny Laine (Moody Blues, Wings) who kicked ass. I regret missing Eric Burden when has come through town. I have no desire to see Peter Noone and his yearly tours. I did catch The Who and Stones when I was younger.

I did a wiki search for British Invasion Bands. I love these lists because it proves that:

A) Creative revisionist history by person making list
B) I lived in a regional bubble at the mercy of local radio stations

Here is the wiki list...
The Animals
The Beatles
Cilla Black
Chad & Jeremy
The Dave Clark Five
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
Petula Clark
The Spencer Davis Group
Donovan
Adam Faith
Marianne Faithfull
Georgie Fame
Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders
The Fortunes
The Fourmost
Freddie and the Dreamers
Gerry and the Pacemakers
Herman's Hermits
The Hollies[
The Honeycombs
The Hullaballoos
The Ivy League
Tom Jones
Jonathan King
The Kinks
Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas
Lulu
Manfred Mann
The Merseybeats
The Moody Blues
The Nashville Teens
Peter and Gordon
The Pretty Things
The Rolling Stones
The Searchers
Sandie Shaw
Small Faces
Dusty Springfield
Crispian St. Peters
The Swinging Blue Jeans
Them
The Tremeloes
The Troggs
The Undertakers
Ian Whitcomb
The Who
The Yardbirds
The Zombies

Not all would be on my list of bands.
