Pass - Jazz, Page is much better than Fripp at leads, Ribot - Jazz, Fahey - Folk + Avant Garde, Bishop and Cline came after Page and didn't play rock, Page is better than Zappa soloing, etc.

What part of genre do you not understand?

And Page had some great finger-style acoustic chops BTW.

I was just talking about guitarists. Don't move the goalposts.

Also Page better than Zappa at soloing? Nnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooo. Zappa's not even one of my favourites tbh but he's one of the best soloists ever. Oh, and Bishop has played rock with Sun City Girls.

The discussion is about rock guitarists.

*Wonders when Frowny will bring up Segovia*

Uh, whatever you want to tell yourself, Chula. I read "top ten guitarists" in TS's post that kicked this whole thing off, not "top ten well known pop guitarists from the 70s that Chula grew up loving."

Agree to disagree re Zappa vs Page. I love Zappa for what it's worth. Black Napkins is essential to any guitarist.

Stop making ridiculous replies when you're backed into a corner.

His playing on the albums is both technical and brilliant for that genre.
And this is, afterall, a thread about Jimmy Page vs. Tony Iommi.

I guess it's my fault for not realizing that he exclusively meant 70s rock guitarists.
