Game set match it's over. You can't get any better example of the Beatles doing a cover song that highlights their talent.....

.... or maybe not, according to some of the posters here:-

Meanwhile, Janszoon takes a night off to listen to some Fela Kuti music when he could´ve been at home writing up his next review. Can´t find a smiley that shows the extent of my indignation !

This is actually my favorite early Beatles song apart from "Baby, It's You". Siiiiigh, John.

Really, though, you guys. Really. If you can't love all the Beatles, you've got to love Ringo in this adorable clip with Marc Bolan:

Not you, obviously, because I sent it to you through Mediafire last year

I'm assuming he was talking about you, though.

Janszoon, I don't know if you've been won over since you started this thread (haven't read the whole thread), but let me introduce myself: About a year ago, I was in the opposite camp as you: I was a Beatles fan, but then I had "an event" which turned me into a Beach Boys fan. Perhaps you can be convinced of the merits of the Beatles via comparison to a band you already like. Visit my "contests" which begin at the top of this page:

Update: I just read a few of your reviews, including for Pepper.

Since you're a Beach Boys fan, do this: Listen to Pet Sounds (like, maybe a few times in a row even) and then listen to Pepper, also a few times in a row if need be. In the words of George Martin, "Without Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper wouldn't have happened... Pepper was an attempt to equal Pet Sounds."

Since I started listening to the Beach Boys a year ago, the more I listen to Pepper, the more I "hear" Pet Sounds in it. If you like Pet Sounds, you should also like Pepper.

Not having made it on any of the albums Janszoon has reviewed, I'd be curious what he thinks of this single? Personally I think it was a big artistic breakthrough for the Beatles and one of my favorite songs of theirs.
