There were better bands than bot AIC and Nirvana....Mudhoney was just as good if not better than those bands....I can name tons of other grunge bands that are better.

The rm grunge existed since Green River first formed which was sometime in 1983 ish (just a guess)...Malfunkshun was around since 1983 and The Melvins since 1980 soo the term was used.

Saying Nirvana's punk is a stupid remark yes they were influeneced by punk but every grunge band was. Bleach had that perfect grunge sound the guitars sounded very similar to bands like Crackerbash...

Well yeah, grunge was a mix of punk and metal some bands sound more punk, others sound more metal. Nirvana in their Nevermind album sounded sort of like punk but not quite there.
