Have you tried Whiskeytown? I prefer them to anything Ryan Adams has done solo. You might also try Cash's American Recordings, or some bands (like Uncle Tupelo) that were in the No Depression crowd....

I'm a huge country fan, though I never listen to country radio. Not that all popular country is bad - it just isn't what usually draws me in. I love Laura...
