Really? alot of the stuff on 'Today!' and 'Summer Days' could easily have fit on Pet Sounds. I take it you're referring to stuff like 'Surfin' USA'?

Brian's 'smile' is dogged down by over-production, his crappy voice, and overall, feels way too campy. The original Beach Boys' Smile sessions however, are amazing, and definately a good place to go...
