Yeah, I've never actually listened to Frusciante's solo work, but Blood Sugar Sex Majik is my favorite RHCP album, so I'd say go with BTown's suggestion here.

Like Bulldog I'm not really an expert but Mule Variations, Rain Dogs, and Swordfishtrombones are probably good places to start. Rain Dogs is my favorite.
