Wilco are wonderful, I've never really heard of them being too hyped. Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot are great albums.

I love Marcy Playground. I remember hearing them on Cruel Intentions and then listened to a couple of albums from then on.

And I'm also dead sick of RATM, such a nothing band for me.
