I'm not sure why you mocked my statement. And The Housemartins' singer was mediocre and the music generic 80's Brit alternative. Like it or not, The Escape Club stood out.

The Escape Club was one of the most underrated alternative bands to come out of the UK in the 80's. The silly image kind of obscured the singer's good voice and the band's talent.

Now that I think about it, Stapp's singing style is pompous. The only Creed song I moderately like is "One," also probably the only Creed hit without a video (which would have been lame, I'm sure).

Durst supposedly was not a frat-boy and didn't intend to be embraced by that community. But I can see why he's perceived that way and that the band's reputation made The Who cover feel inappropriate....

I don't know what makes it so soulless. Fred's singing isn't passionate, but I think he is feeling it and doing a deliberately muted version.

Robert Plant solo in the 80's and 90's was better than Zeppelin. Although that might cross over from "unpopular" to "blasphemy" :)
