I don't know what the numbers are in football/chess but Ive seen studies on hockey in which luck is almost just as important over an entire 82 game season than skill. id assume randomness is more...

depends on how you define "best" but most sports (basketball being an exception) have scoring based off rare events so luck plays a huge role in any singular game.
