I left one of the shows I went to earlier this year to avoid hearing 311. Luckily for me, the Offspring was playing first.

I think they wanted to be or thought they were punk. The attitude wasnt there imo.

I have heard them be compared to The Ramones.
So, the answer to this dilemma might just depend on how you define The Ramones' genre.
