in our mendicant ways
we were paying for our parents to get old
I am the vested jester, sunken in twiddly-thumbed love
one day I'll get to you

Ocean, I've been meaning to say how exciting that is that someone involved in recording is interested in your music! Has that panned out like you hoped?

someone else mixed this; I may do some of my own dirty work to smooth out some kinks.
I prefer your earlier work to this recording and song. "Alder Rain" has the gentle cowboy guitar feeling of some of the earlier songs, yet in this one your voice sounded thinner, with tighter vibrato, and the guitar in the first part of the song sounded repetitive to me.

I felt the song became more arresting around 2:08 when it picked up and got stronger. I always prefer the parts in your songs where you are singing full out and have stronger instrumentation, compared to the longer, more languid and warbly parts where you are using your falsetto. My feedback reflects that I don't love falsetto in general...so, I don't mean it personally...you have a nice falsetto...I just don't gravitate strongly toward falsetto.

Also, like you note, there were some serious kinks in the recording, such as the sounds of squeaky chairs. I felt the production quality of your earlier recordings was better than this one, though it is very nice that friends are helping you by doing the recording.

Oh dear. I've been watching American Idol. Is it showing in my harsher-than-usual critique?

Hey dude if you record a song with a whole numbered tempo i could add some drum programming and percussion (basically listen to a metronome while playing)

or i could just send you a loop (my drum loops are usually made up of samples)

a little. I got a job and have started uni again, so I don't have enough time to go out into the rural area (its several hours north) and record for a bit. it'll still happen... just delayed.

I actually like the squeaky chairs (and there are people talking in the background). I don't like it because it sounds too clinical. I want it to sound more warm; maybe should tape it.

which program bro? I'm using protools 8.0.1. and can create samples/loops, but I'm keen to do something.

i use garageband (i know its hated, but only by those who've never used it)
i've basically used gb long enough i know how to get around all the limitations
the only limitation i cannot get around is only being able to create whole number tempos (not a big deal)

i thought about some collaboration, and since i've never truly done that before i thought i'd do something simple

w.i.p.

I will come down
to be born
I'm too long stunted in twiddly-thumbed love

I will come down
to be born
see your yolk to my lemmon, true (purposeful misspelling)

actually its rudiments were yoko and lennon. kind of a tie in for 'true love', or soulmate, or whatever you call it.
