I'm down to just a USB mic and a sock for a filter. Used to do a lot of rap and vaguely jazz stuff and the equipment I had then was tops.

Hey Conan,

I especially liked this song, "Carry This Burden," and the lines in bold above, in particular the verse about cradling your comfort in the open arms of strangers because eventually family can't be there for you.

"Emmagene" interested me, too. Both songs' lyrics are intriguing because only part of them make sense to me. Reading/listening to them is a little like picking up pieces of a shattered mirror: I think they reflect something, some story that makes sense, but I can't put them together to see any reflection of a whole, so I just look into the single piece I hold and see a bit of a reflection of myself.

For example, Emmagene (a common name) feeling she is Juliet shows she was striving beyond or was not quite aware of her circumstances and viewed herself as different than others perhaps did...but I don't know what significance this has in the song. So I end up thinking of what other names or views of myself that I have.

Musically, I especially liked the guitar work in Emmagene. It felt very confident. I also remember a low note in that song...a cello-like sound. After listening to these two songs I find myself not remembering much about them because the slow strumming and feel of the songs kind of blend together to me. I wish they were more peppy than folksy (which they sound to me) and had some sudden change or shift in the songs that stands out more or jars me.
