Yep. The first track is where it's more prominent. It's a bit jarring. I was actually wondering if that's the effect you were going for, hence the inquisition. lol

Not sure how committed you are to it all, but if you get a Shure SM58 and create a "Vocal Box", you'll hear a world of difference in quality and you'll stave off most of the redo frustrations. Having a solid vocal recording setup is a good datum point and takes the equipment out of the equation for any 'less than desirable' results.

Gaining a lot of confidence in my vocals every time I go to record. Also getting better at the mixing part of things, I discovered a feature in Ableton called automation where you can turn up or down the volume of specific little chunks of the recordings. This is probably recording/mixing 101 but I never needed to learn it when making songs where the only sound was controlled electronic instruments lol

This is likely the last song I post before full release

Sounds a bit better, but still sounding like you have the entire mic stuffed in your mouth when you're hitting the more aggressive portions. Just trying to help, so don't take that in a bad way, just constructive.

Can you post what brand mic you're using?

It's this basic ass thing

I would be down to upgrade at microphone but I've already put a lot of money into this project (a couple hundred for drum samples, this mic itself, I'm paying to have it put on music streaming services, and I'm commissioning album art) and so I'd like to try and make this work. I'm definitely not expecting to make any real money back from it either lol

I should upload the tweaked version of The Miser of Misery where I'm actually using the automation feature to see if you think it's a notable improvement. Give me a little bit on that

Edit: Re-uploaded, vocals still might not be perfect but you'll be able to tell the difference definitely on how the vocals are mixed especially during the "chorus" parts where I'm basically yelling: https://soundcloud.com/daydream-soci...iser-of-misery

So, it's this one:

Seems decent. I see it has a sensitivity adjustment for it too.

Maybe I should start turning down the sensitivity when I'm about to start belting **** out. The only alternative really is standing halfway across the room which can kind of give the vocals a bit of an echo-y sound. Which isn't always a bad thing I guess

True dat. Maybe get a large cardboard box (maybe 18x18 or so) and put the mic in it as far back as possible, then sing into the box. Just a hunch. It's hard to gauge these things when not there. Too many variables.

Here's a tune I'm throwing in the pile for a collaborative album on another site. I took an older one, remixed it a bit, threw in some intro stuff and called it a different name. I like pressing the easy button. lol

Plankton - The Screams of Injustice

I haven't given it the 'good stereo in the vehicle' treatment yet, so if anyone could let me know if there's any clipping, I'd appreciate it. I'm not picking up any on my PC speakers, but I'm seeing some slight stuff in the DAW.

I think Trollheart might remember this one. He reviewed the album it's from.

The bass line was fine. There was a deep bass anomaly in the drums that I couldn't pick out until I upped the lower registers. Figures, that's what you get when you DL random on line stuff. The original song has been that way since 2012. On this one, I completely redid the drums with EZDrummer2 but followed the same patterns and accents, etc..

^The original link has been updated if anyone wants a listen^
