I am not a poet, just a fan. Even if I did write, I doubt I would have the balls to share it, so kudos to those who do.

I really enjoy modern/contemporary poets and their works. There are several literary magazines and on-line publications with a lot of good stuff from some very relevant poets.

I'm creating this thread to share some poems that I love. PLEASE feel free to add any you please or share any poets you like.

It does seem that way. But maybe there are great contemporary poets out there somewhere. Maybe fewer people appreciate poetry these days and so poets have a harder time becoming well known. I dunno. Either way, it's a shame we have to rely on the poets of the past.

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
