^ This second clip has fellow soulies describing what this dance scene means to them (including myself) quite nicely.

I found this blog where you can download all these really obscure 60s garage rock singles http://www.garagehangover.com/

I was wondering if you knew of anything similar with some northern soul stuff on it Mr R-T

Oh and while i`m here.....

Any chance of a re-up?
There was a song in the Dr Who Xmas special used during the wedding reception scene sung by Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy , apparently it`s a total rip off from this song.So I wouldn`t mind hearing the original

I heard the song...it was on that Xmas special, (at the wedding) with Catherine Tate? Edit: hehe you said that already.

As for similar sites to that blog...there are loads of places where you can get songs.
The thing with Northern Soul is that the majority of the tunes are rare and new undiscovered stuff, keeps on cropping up.
The sites I like are Northern Soul Radio, run by Paddy Grady and a forum called Soul Source (although I rarely post.)
Another good forum is Northernsoul.com, they have a similar thread to the Sharing Thread, only you have to be a member to gain access.
I've even seen a virtual jukebox, which had some good stuff on it.

I love that Garage Hangover blog. I'll be checking that out more, later.

Oi right-track,
I dug out one of my favourite mix cds , this one..........

Swiftly becoming Hollywood's cinematic composer of choice, the Belfast-born wonder-DJ David Holmes dusts off his record box for this first release on his own 13 Amp label, Come Get It I Got It. Featuring a sublime selection of obscure R&B, soul and funk alongside Holmes' self-penned material (under the guise of Free Association), it's an intriguing and eclectic romp with some of the 1960s and 1970s greatest unsung heroes. More vital than his Essential Mix 98/01, Come Get It... kicks off with the gorgeous acid-tinged folk of Rodriguez's "Sugarman", before unleashing the raw soulful delights of Hodges, James, Smith & Crawford's "Nobody" and Betty Adams' fervent "Make It Real". Infectious experimental funk comes courtesy of the Johnny Otis Show's "Country Girl" and Cyril Neville's "Gossip" while Muddy Waters' masterfully delivers growling psychedelic blues on "Tom Cat". But the highlight has to be the absolutely hilarious, eccentric and bizarrely sexy cover of "Purple Haze" by Johnny Jones and The King Casuals, a favourite in Holmes' DJ set since he was 15, its camp genius is irresistible. Tied together with the sample-heavy retro-chic of Free Association, this is the soundtrack to one highly sexed, drug-fuelled, occasionally disturbed but genuinely joyous lifestyle.

Interested ?
