I am going to go through these guys discog soon. I loved RHCP's cover of "If You Want Me To Stay" by them.

In accordance with not starting new threads about similar topics I would just like to say that this new box set highlighting "Sly And The Family's " career is a must have because it gives us a glimpse at just what they had going on back in the day! Talented musicians to say the least that may have actually been over shadowed by what the record company wanted us to see............They really were a true rock and roll review what with the soul singers and the horn section etc.

Just here to give props on the band, first track I ever heard was Family Affair and slowly working my way through others.

What can one say about Sly & The Family Stone that hasn't already been said? True innovators in popular music without question, something even Motown artists of the era took notice of. It seemed like NOTHING was off limits for them musically, or lyrically for that matter. Good stuff! I guess it's time to pull out 'There's A Riot Goin' On'! ...
