I was just prepearing to post a new theme about soul (funk and disco), but I found it.That's O.K., you are thinking about it! I really love that kind of music, who is telling you 'dance, dance' and who is such naturally produced, with great rhythm sections, but also vocals and other. I'm feeling good with Otis Redding, Aretha, Stevie W., Green, J.B., Wild Cherry, Stretch, Wilson Pickett, Ike and Tina, The Supremes, The Commodores...there are more. If someone has some reccomands about soul and funk, please, let me know!

I love Otis Redding, Al Green, Smokey Robinson; Hookers got me hooked on Sam Cooke (wow it even rhymes) I didn't realise it was him who sang half those songs, like 'Wonderful World' which is amazing. Sly and the Family Stone is sooooooooo good been listening to that constantly this month.

Tower of Power...? Oh is that who does 'Play that funky music?' **** no that's Wild Cherry I'm sure. I love that song too. Recommendations for Tower of Power?

Ironically, they do a kickass cover of Play That Funky Music. A lot of tower of Power is very "White Funk". Its very good, but sometimes gets a little corny. They're famous for having the tightes funk/soul horn section in the world. Check out the songs What is Hip and So Very Hard to Go.
