I use the word "fun" to describe rather few albums. Megadeth have a lot of riffs that really entertain me in a way that makes me use that word. Plus, what does Mustaine really sound like if not a pissed off cartoon character?

I mean that riff is nice but that song is so dad thrash and it has one of those modern Megadeth choruses that is so bland I can't even remember how it sounds after having just heard it.

I've had it stuck in my head since 2009. But then, I've got dad-tastes. Or maybe often more like mom-tastes.

If there had been a transition album between Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction then I could see a younger Mustaine having been able to make that song with more authenticity but the only people I can see being impressed by that are Metallica.

agree with frownland. also the cd era was a great time for fillers cuz for some reason the companies pushed the artists to fill the entire cd..

It's both and people are, generally, impatient. That can be their loss, b/c there's lots of great songs on albums which were not singles. I know someone who doesn't like compilations, or best of's for that reason - it's collections of singles and feels that you do miss out by not having an lp/cd of a release in its' entirety. Many musicians put out releases which contain all good tracks, i.e. Depeche Mode, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club...a great example is by an underrated 90s hip-hop artist, Imani Coppola lp Chupacabra (I'll put it here), Pink Floyd; there are examples from every decade, every category. Another is the classic jazz/r&b/blue-eyed soul album: Boz Scaggs Silk Degrees.

The term that you're looking for is "deep cut", aka a song that is obscure (at least in comparison with the album's singles) that is also of quality. Filler remains a negative term.

Thanks for the info,but since I'm more than likely alot older the term[Filler]was the one used back in the day.
