The Wings looked so unwing-like the last two games. All the credit goes to Pittsburgh for outplaying them. Whoever wins game 5 wins the series in my opinion. No way Wings win game six in Pittsburgh down 3-2 and no way Pens win game 7 in Detroit.

Whatdya think?
i think Zetterberg is on top of his game, if anyone's been troubled it's been Hossa, held without a goal and a mere fluke point in game 2. Franzen looks great right now, and the Detroit defense is certainly supporting like it should (especially Brad Stuart, who's played phenomenal). Kronwall could be a weak link in taking crap penalties this series but even he's played well as an enforcer.

and although i think it's going to seven games, i wouldn't call it a win for Detroit by any measure. for one, neither of those situations happened to us earlier this postseason against Washington (a 2 seed), when we went L-L-W-W-W-L-W.

the games this series have been tight, but none of them have gone to OT and none of them have stuck out as a piss-poor performance for either team. i suppose you could make the argument that tonight was a bit of a letdown in the second for Detroit, but they still managed to outshoot the Penguins and they had some fantastic power play opportunities.

as i've said before, i think both teams are very evenly matched, i give credit to Detroit for having the discipline and experience to make it this far (the fifth time in a decade, ffs), but it's all down to who has the better game in the following three. i don't know if i'll be celebrating or mourning, but so far the Penguins have looked damn good and a fuck of a lot better than last year.

It'll be a lot of fun that's for sure, Good luck the rest of the way.

i absolutely love bettman's claim last night that the whole phoenix debacle isn't based around personal or regional differences, but rather the leagues desire to "strictly enforce the rules so that no one feels slighted". not only is bettman being a complete jackass about this balsille thing (side note: IMO phoenix should be ****ing moved, if they can't keep in business then they shouldn't be in business), he has also successfully turned the NHL into the laughing stock of the professional sports world with his ridiculous favoritism and bull****ting.

enforcing the rules? wheres the MANDATORY game suspension for malkin's little tiff with zetterburg in game 3? where's the MANDATORY game misconduct for not tying his jersey down, which i know sounds petty but when the misconduct is given out on EVERY SINGLE OTHER OCCASION and campbell decides to pardon it's bull****. had the rules been "enforced", there goes malkin's 3 assists, and perhaps this thing turns out differently. now don't get me wrong, i ****ing hate detroit and pittsburgh immensely but when the NHL is turned into a mockery of what it formerly was, making favoritism and compromises with it's standards commonplace just because some ****er from the NBA thinks its good for ratings, then i start to get pissed.

he did receive a game misconduct. he didn't receive a suspension because he violated neither of the stipulations which went along with the 'mandatory' suspension.

he was pissed, he was venting his frustration after the refs failed to call interference on Zetterberg in the crease (which would have resulted in a penalty shot, by the way). it deserved no more of a suspension than the shit the Blackhawks pulled at the end of game four last round.

i guess blindsiding someone with your elbow and then goading him into a gloves-on fight doesn't really deserve any sort of repercussions, does it?

(fast forward to 8:41).

malkin skates from the hashmarks, gains momentum behind the net, and then gives zetterburg a left hook and drags him around until he drops his gloves and starts swinging. zetterburg had done him no personal harm, and hadn't even said a thing to him before malkin jumped on him. i'll give you that it was nothing major, but that doesn't mean it wasn't instigation and that doesn't mean it wasn't pussy shit.

here's the highlights of the game 4 in chicago. i'd like for you to point out to me anything in that game is even close to the shit that malkin pulled. a bunch of undersized kids facing their most hated rivals that had just gotten 6 goals scored on them had more class than malkin did when he was only down by one.

Rank the following four players 1-4:

Sidney Crosby (3)
Pavel Datsyuk (1)
Geno Malkin (4)
Henrik Zetterberg (2)

I'm mad at myself for falling asleep while watching the game but I wished the Red Wings would have finished them off tonight and got it over with. I guess I will have to check out the highlights later.

Detroit is playing their worst game of the series, and it's going to cost them the Cup.

Pittsburgh has clearly been better tonight and all series with a few exceptions, I'm shocked, but I realize it is what it is.

10:00 left...2-0 Penguins

This sucks...
