Default The Official Golf Thread

Don't think there's a thread on here. Golf is basically the only sport I really give a **** about. I was at the final day of The Open yesterday and had a great time. Louis Oosthuizen was fantastic. He hadn't made the halfway cut in any of the seven majors he entered prior to this, yet he came out of nowhere and won by a large margin too(8 shots!). Westwood got second and it's kinda sad that he didn't win, this is something like his 4th time as a runner up and it seems that he just can't cut it enough to get a win. I was dissapointed that Graeme McDowell didn't do better, I really like him and after his sucess recently I was expecting him to fair well. Rory McIlroy didn't do very well either but I think that was because of his tee off time on Friday, the weather really let him down. While walking around early in the morning I witnessed a fantastic putt from Soren Kjeldsen, great putter. Jin Jeong blew my mind, he's an amateur but was better than 80% of the professionals there. Sergio Garcia remains one of my favourites but he's been really terrible recently. Phil Mickelson also didn't play well.
The Seniors are next week( in my bloody town as well!) but I can't watch it as i'm on holiday.
Any golf fans? Any opinions on this weeks Open?

Wow! You were there! Thats pretty awesome man. I followed it for the most part, mostly the first and fourth days. I knew Rory would bomb the second day. Did you see that off the wall shot by Jimenez?

Yeah, it was pretty epic. I've always liked Jimenez, he seems a nice guy and is a very underrated player too IMO. I get in for free because i'm a minor .

My pal was busking up in St Andrews during the final day and made £80, not bad for a day's sitting playing guitar eh!

I never watched it but I did used to play golf when I was younger, me and some friends used to sneak on to the local course and hope we never got caught. I have to say, I'm dreadful at the game. But it's good fun to play.

I'm quite awful as well, and usually get distracted by racing the carts and driving like a maniac.

you mean racing the carts isn't the main reason people go golfing?

I'm a pretty lean mean mini-golfing machine, though I couldn't hit the ball 5 foot (in the right direction) in a regular game of golf if my life depended on it.

However I've grown to like watching pro golf on tv which is something I would have never thought possible a few years ago. When its between golf or the Miracle Blade II infomercial, golf doesn't seem so boring. I pick out which golfer has the best outfit and root for them. And I like hearing the announcers' cheeky remarks when one of those spoiled brats throw a fit. Also love looking at the beautiful courses.

Long live Chi Chi Rodriguez!
