I think Gerrard is a pretty poor central midfielder, but he is a fantastic footballer. He just can't play that position properly, so he does most of his work on the right, which is why Milner is selected to cover him when he roams.

Well England have made it to extra time, Italy just don't have any great finishing ability and Balotelli hasn't seen the ball in a while.

Without stating the obvious, Italy just won the penalty shoot-out, which is the only way they could win, they had no real cutting edge. I expect them to play even more within themselves when they play against Germany, who on the other hand have real cutting edge.

Are you serious? They ripped England apart and missed chances through poor finishing and unfortunate mis-cues. I think Germany will beat them though.

Which means they have no cutting edge, cutting edge means scoring goals. England could have easily nicked a goal had they had a bit more belief as Italy were never going to score despite all their possession.

Not true, "cutting" implies the creating of chances (i.e. cutting through the defence) and Italy had no problem with that.

Also, had England scored nothing would have changed. Their players are nowhere near the required level. Obviously they may have won the game, but that doesn't stop them being a poorer team.

Well the best team often doesn't win, I just think Italy are not great and it seems we have a different definition of "cutting edge" in football.
