I don't know why people go on & on about the number of world class players in each team before every tournament.

Russia & Turkey got through to the semis in the last tournament
Greece won it in 2004, the Czech Republic were in the semi's that year too.

England are crap at tournaments for the same reason Spain & Holland used to be, plenty of star power but no team ethic.

Russia had some fantastic players in 2004 and Turkey were just inspired. In 2004 the Czechs had some great players whilst the Greeks just workmanlike players that just got everything right.

Going on about world class players, is mostly a stab at nostalgia. Its basically dreaming about players that can light up a tournament.

I'm not saying they didn't have any good players, I'm just saying that compared to the likes of the usual tournament favourites they didn't have as many.

Yep, they do have a number of nondescript players and Jordan Henderson is another to add to that list.

BTW I really dug that Groundhogs album, in fact I thought it was that impressive that I bought the CD this week, got it for around £4. I take it, you got my review of it?

Either way, the idea that teams with greater work ethic etc win tournaments is not a standard, Greece is in fact the exception that proves the rule that anything can happen in football.

England don't do well because, apart from one or two stand outs, our players are nowhere near good enough, in any way shape or form. We are a "Greece" nation. We work hard, are solid at the back but don't have the ability when it comes down to it. I suppose by your logic, England has every chance, but I just don't think it's logical from a footballing perspective to imagine England could win any game against Holland, Germany or Spain, never mind France. That's why I would always bet against them.
