Any baseball fans?

He only gets on base at a .306 clip, that's insanely low for someone who's hitting with as much power as he is right now.

I know Ibanez has never been a great on-base guy, but .300 is actually pretty bad. Most good players get on at least 35% of the time, if not closer to 40%.

Harper also has higher OPS and OPS+ than Ibanez, so there's that too.

hey guys im newer here and i love baseball. I grew up playing and still follow the game closely. I live in Pittsburgh so GO PIRATES!!!!!!! I saw Cole's debut the other week and ive never seen the stadium that packed in 20 years. i also think Marte is a stud that will become more well known next year among all MLB fans. There are a lot of great players with potential who are REALLY young right now and i think its great for the game!!

I think the DH is a good thing and should be in the NL too, but that wont happen because there are too many baseball 'purists' out there who dont like change. The DH just allows for so much more flexibility and if you dont have a pure DH clogging up that spot you can give guys rests because its such a grueling season. I just dislike that one league has it and the other doesnt. That doesnt make sense to me and it's no wonder a lot of pitchers go from AL to NL and do so much better. You can plan 2 or 3 innings a game around the pitcher slot which makes it so hard to score as an offense. With how good pitching has become in the last few years especially i think offense is already hard enough.

all star game voting is so stupid. Or the game meaning something is so stupid, take your pick. one of them needs to go. how can you have a bunch of stupid and biased fans voting on lineups in a game that determines home field?? Makes no sense to me!!! the majority of fans of any team/sport/anything are stupid. Look at the NBA, one year McGrady almsot got voted in with only playing a few games (cause of the Chinese vote from Yao). One year Joe johnson barely beat out Iverson and Johnson averagred more points per game than games Iverson even played. I just think the game should be a fun thing and i feel like as a sports fan im in the minority that doesnt care that the nba/nhl/nfl all star games are crap.

interleague was one of the best ideas the mlb ever had. especially considering the leagues aren't really based off of geography. so with interleague i think its cool to have oakland play san fran and the new york teams go at it as examples.

i am also a METS fan thank to my father growing up and for the first time in a long time i am VERY happy with them because they have some serious stud pitchers!!!

Yasiel Puig has only been in the league for about a month, but he's consistently been putting up impressive numbers and has breathed new life into a Dodger's team that had been sitting in last place in the NL West. Do you think he's worthy of an all-star spot?

He probably has as many rbis as Bryce Harper why not.

puig looks awesome, i like all the different things he brings to the game. he sorta reminds me of VLAD who was unique and awesome.

bryce isnt having a terrible year, he was hurt for a good portion of it. if he wasn't hurt he'd have 20+ homers right now with 40-50 RBIs

Well then thats all the more reason for him to sit it out. He should have politely declined and said he was injured and didn't have the stats to garner a spot.

its a game for the fans and the fans want him there so i dont see why its a problem. hes going to be one of the faces of baseball and one of the superstars of this generation of players, so let him shine.

I am sure fred doesnt agree but I like Bryce in the HR derby. really dissapointed in my boy Wrights selections though....cuddyer AND gonzalez?? cmon, 2 Rockies?????

To be fair to Harper, I think him and Trout are two of the brightest stars to come along in decades. He seems like a no brainer for the Derby. I just don't like the sentimental ballot stuffing that seemingly happens every year to allow notable subtractions whos numbers are more worthy. Hes clearly a standout player with five tool ability, I just don't appreciate his addition with lack of numbers. No biggie, Cal Ripken went virtually every year and deserved it about half the time.

Ibanez hit to more moonshots tonight, both well over 400 feet, he's now at 24 dingers with a little less than half a season left. The all time record for a 41 y/o or over player is 29 by no less than Ted Williams.
