I guarantee you, if Sterling was not black then Wright would not have made that comment. What about all the white guys who tend(ed) to be **** finishers? What about the Neville brothers? Responsible for so many mistakes that led to goals against Man U. Did anyone ever suggest this was due to racism? It's just an way to throw the spotlight off the fact that Sterling is often a **** player and try to blame it on his being black.

Prove it. I'm not aware of his receiving any stick due to his colour, any more than, say, Pogba, Rashford or Kante for instance. Maybe he does, maybe the evidence is there, but I ain't seen it. Just cos Wrighty suggests it doesn't necessarily make it true. His own words - "What else could it be?" - make it pretty clear he's grasping at straws here.
So you only listen to accusations of racism by white people? Oh wait you don't do that either. I'll bet you grew up with a golliwog and still can't sleep without him.

I'm just going to stop responding to you when it comes to racism. You're dumb and fixated.

There is no, so far as I can see, proof or evidence supporting the fact that Sterling (who you know ****-all about, but that never stopped you of course) is being targeted for his colour as opposed to his ****ty finishing.

Racist: That Sterling, he's a ****ing monkey/ Not as good as white players/ Should have stayed in Africa (though he's probably born in the UK) etc etc

Not racist: That Sterling, he couldn't score if the goal was a hundred feet wide.

You have to be able to prove that the reason he's being criticised is because of his colour. If that's proven, then yes, it's a racist thing. If not, then it's just because he a **** footballer.

If you allow any black footballer to be exempt from criticism IN CASE it might be taken as racism, then that's ****ing stupid. Then you can't make any comment about a black person without them screaming racist! This is fine if the comment is racist or racist based, but not if they or someone else are just using it to excuse or draw attention away from the real reason they're being criticised.

tl;dr: just because a black person gets criticised does not NECESSARILY and AUTOMATICALLY make that criticism racist based.

Edit: You've changed your ****ing username?????????

When do you think I grew up? The nineteen-****ing-thirties?? Golliwogs were well off the market by the time I was born. The only golliwog you'd see when I was small (other than on some TV show for kids, or possibly the Black-and-White Minstrel Show) was on a pot of marmalade! Anyway, I'm more of a teddy bear man myself.

To expand on and clarify my previous points, before Batty (no I will not call you 66Sexy: you'll always be Batty to me) comes in and says "oh so TH refuses to believe racism exists in his beloved football", I am the first to accept that sadly, out of all the sports, footy is probably the most racist. I remember black players going down to take a corner or a throw and having to endure monkey noises, bananas thrown onto the pitch and other racist slurs by the supporters of the other team. I know it's racist. They're trying to change it and it's a slow process, but comments from Wright don't help at all.

I don't know where you got the idea that I only listen to racism from white people, which is a bloody stupid but completely expected assumption from you. I would be as skeptical of the comment if Gary Lineker or Alan Shearer had said it. If Wright has evidence to support his claim, that's fine, but when he leads with "what else could it be but racism" that's frankly ridiculous, and ignores all the other reasons Sterling could be getting stick.

If you prevent any black person from being criticised for anything, for fear it will be seen as a racist attack, then you might as well forget it. Rapper whp happens to be **** can't get a record deal? Racist record companies. Black writer who can't write for **** and can't get published? Racist publishers. Black footballer who can't .... see where I'm going with this?

Racism is of course prevalent in football and it's abhorrent and sad that it is so, but not every black player who gets criticised can claim he's being racially targeted unless there's clear evidence to suggest this. Otherwise they're just whining babies hiding behind the race card and not prepared to accept their own failings and try to work on them.

You accept that football is racist, but if someone points it out in kind of the wrong way and "deserves" criticism then it's a cause for outrage. Definitely not a racist.

He never said football is racist, he said there is racism in football. The Russian Premier League is not the English Premier League. Hope this helps mate.

Any criticism Sterling gets is nothing in comparison to what Beckham got. Hanging from lampposts and effigies burned of him, death threats galore. Abused at every ground in England. Fashion choices ripped to shreds every time. I suppose that was racist as well.

Also interesting to see the well known black man Phil Jones received a lower rating than Sterling.

Completely ridiculous, and worthy of you seeing what you want to see in my posts.

Let me break it down for you:

1. Sterling is, as most fans will accept (even those of his team) a **** finisher
2. He gets stick for this. Any footballer would.
3. Ian Wright, who has, I accept, probably had to endure racist slurs in his career, comes out and says it's racist; the whole reason people are giving him **** is because he's black
4. Wright does not offer any evidence of this, but says "what else could it be?"
5. It MAY be the case - I'm not denying that or excluding it - but it also may not
6. Sterling may just be ****, and that has nothing to do with his colour
7. Just because a black man is criticised this does not automatically make it a racist attack.

So, to sum up: yes, there may be racism behind what's being said of Sterling, but until some evidence of such is put forward (as in my previous posts) I won't be ready to write that off as the cause. He's just a **** footballer, and that doesn't change no matter what his colour. I'll bet that a large percentage of Man City fans, and England fans, don't give a curse what colour he is. They just want him to score more than he misses. I also would not be that surprised if some of the criticism is coming from black footy fans, though of course I don't know that.

I think we both know why you think he's **** and that you'd be softer on him if he was white.

Why on earth would you derive that from this situation? Who are you even arguing against with that ****?

He happens to be black. It was not because he is black. Rooney got similar criticism when he left Everton and then again when he held MU to ransom for 300k per week. You are not aware of any of this though.
