Practice. If you want to actually get good then get a vocal coach.

1. get a self teaching book
2. join a choir

You should seek some kind of training in order to find out the best vocal range that is best for you, If you hurt your voice (Vocal chords, etc) it could cause serious, if not permanent damage. Good Luck!

First of all, so you have more air in your lungs, when singing, make your stomach go outwards when you breathe. Also, try a vocal warm, such as:
This relaxes your throat so you get the best sounds. Push the top of your toungue (a bit more than your tip) against your teeth. Then sing scales, with this sound (this'll look dumb) hyauah sound.

I'm training my voice myself, just my using a keyboard and hitting a note and singing that note, then making up simple little tunes and playing them and singing them back. Its working pretty well, I don't think i want to be taught by anyone, so this works well for me anyway.

I see a vocal coach but there are things that can help your voice that you can do... Like drinking lemon water just put a tsp of lemon juice in your glass every time you go for water... or Gargle hot salt water, as hot as you can and as far back, then if you go online and fine a good book, i bet you'd do fine, just don't over do it...
