Avatar Requests

ABOUT THIS THREAD

If you want an avatar that's larger than the size you're restricted to, this is the place to make your request. But before you make a request, please read the rules below. There are NO exceptions to these rules. If you do not follow them, your request will NOT be granted. The moderators perform these requests because we're able to and we're nice enough to do it, not because we're required to. With that in mind, please respect a moderator's decision regarding your request. Also, please note that your post containing your request will not be approved and published, but merely used as a source for the avatar itself.

RULES
  • The moderators will NOT resize your avatar to the proper dimensions. That is your responsibility. For instructions on how to do this, see the "How To" portion of this thread.
  • Your avatar will NOT be larger than 175 pixels wide. We will not accept anything wider. Height isn't as important, but please attempt to keep the height to no more than 250 pixels.
  • The moderators will NOT be expected to fulfill every request. By using this thread to request an avatar change, you implicitly agree that requests will fulfilled at a moderator's discretion, and take no issue with it.
  • Please refrain from requesting excessive avatar changes. If you're asking for an avatar change every other day, your requests will be ignored.

HOW TO RE-SIZE YOUR AVATAR
  1. Download the image to your computer. (Right click the image, and choose "Save as")
  2. Type www.picresize.com into your browser's address bar (or click that link).
  3. Click the "Browse" button, and select the image you downloaded, then click "Continue".
  4. In step 2, open the drop-down menu and select "Custom Size".
  5. For width, enter 175 or less. Select "pixels" in the drop-down. For height, enter 250 or less. Also select "pixels" here.
  6. Press "Resize Image" at the bottom of the screen.
  7. You will see a new window appear. Choose "Save to disk", and select your download location.
  8. Upload your newly resized avatar to an image hosting site, and post the picture or link as a reply to this thread. (please note that if your filename has a filtered word in it, or any part of the link, the link and/or photo will not work.

Hot tip:
If you want to verify whether a picture meets or exceeds the size requirements first, simply right-click the original picture and select "properties", then locate the image dimensions.

If you have any questions or are confused by these steps, please PM a moderator and that moderator will be glad to explain it to you. Also, don't use this thread for anything other than requesting new avatars. Your posts won't be approved anyway.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Also, please provide us with a path directly to the file rather than a page that's hosting the file where we have to dig to find the actual image path. The best way to ensure that you are doing this is to insert your new avatar right in your post, just like you would any other image you might post.

I'm basically bumping to re-iterate what Jans said, and also add that the best way to get the picture to work is to use imgur. Many other sites seem to create links which don't work.
