The first three times I got punched in the face, I don't really remember why. The fourth time, I had asked the student to do something or another, and he just hauled off and hit me in the face.

And yes, I'm a guy and married to a guy.
Sorry if I offended you in any way, shape or form, I didn't mean it in that way. I often get people's sexes confused. And Bandteacher1 doesn't really have an indicator. I based your sex before solely on posts, and the mention of a husband made me think "maybe I've confused her for a guy", like what I did with AwwSugar, and a few others. I don't have a problem...

We're what's called a "Proffessional Devolopement School", meaning that for college students majoring in education, Clear View is the place to go to get your hours in the classroom. Education majors have to have a certain amount of hours observing a teacher, helping students, and infact teaching every now and again. It's so that the teachers-to-be have a little bit of experince before they start. If you're planning on teaching at a high school level in Mass, Clear Veiw is the place to be.

And thanks, ha. But I like my school. The students are fairly sane...

I don't think he'll take any offense, it's a recent and not exactly a widespread phenomenon (gay marriage I mean). He's from Massachusetts which is only one of 5 US states which allows same-sex marriages.

Wow, same sex marriage isn't legal everywhere in the US? I'm shocked. Very shocked.

I type whicked fast, and I just don't proof it sometimes. But yes, I am. Luckily, teaching music, I don't need to spell too much. Most of what I write on my board(s) is from a score or otherwise.

Unfortunately, no, it's not. The US is a fairly young country, especially compared to England or Ireland or most European Countries that have been around for at least a thousand years. It takes time for a gov't to develope fair policies, and become balanced in world affairs. The US is a prime example of this. Before the US entered WWI or WWII, we were against entering those wars. We felt it was a "European Problem". However, in Veitnam, we were on the complete oppisate end of the scale, in that we jumped right in. Into a war we had no business entering, in my opinion.
However, I think that the other states'll come around. It just takes time.

Surely you are being sarcastic. The US is one of the most homophobic countries in the world...and we get constant **** for it.

G.ay rights are thankfully making their way...though, very slowly.

Er, no I'm not being sarcastic. I thought only a select few states were homophobic, and when they were homophobic, they were REALLY homophobic. I didn't realise the it was so homophobic to the extent that *** marriage wasn't legal. That's pretty appalling.

I agree completely...and yet again another person's opinion of the US has been knocked down that much more.

I view g.ay rights as this generation's civil rights movement.

Iowa is another state that recently allowed same-sex marriage. This is one of the good things about Iowa.

Same-sex marriage is *still* not legal on the federal level, so same-sex couples miss out on numerous rights and privileges granted to married couples under federal law in the U.S.
