Kirk Hammett? Underappreciated yes. But he's far from the best. His phrasing and live soloing lives a lot to be desired.

I liked his guitar work in 'one' though, lovely solos.

Yeah, I love his solo in Master of Puppets, but for some reason everyone hates that one.

John 5 plays some brilliant stuff on his solo album. He's nowhere near the best but definatly overlooked because of the sh!t guitaring he did with Manson. Download 'Damaged', especially you, boo, I think you'll like it.

My personal favourites would have to be Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi, Buckethead, David Gilmour, John Frusciante, Robert Fripp, Trey Anastasio, Tom Morello, Carlos Santana, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, and Adam Jones.

As far as I know, Hetfield wrote all of Hammett's guitarwork in One.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.
