The Beatles (albums, quote, songs)

This argument doesn't belong here, I don't subscribe to the idea that you can't talk about one band while bringing up the other. My opinions on the matter are well documented on these boards, so if you have to know what I think about this fight, you can go find them.

As far as the topic is concerned; On MB Paul is given far less credit than is rightfully deserved. Everyone blows Lennon because he's dead and George was "the quiet one" so its hip to trump him up but in my opinion McCartney was the driving force behind the Beatles and without him they'd have been far less impressive. I think Lennons stuff is, on the whole, more pretentious and bad.

No, I prefer Lennons stuff not because he's dead, but because I enjoy his voice and songs more than th eothers.

Lennon wrote more creative, avante garde stuff. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
Paul was more a bubblegum song writer, and it always worked. Lennon was a million times better than Paul IMO.

Yeah, traditional argument that isn't really true. Bubblegum? I suppose everything after their pop phase was written by John? Get real, I think Let it Be, Hey Jude, and Yesterday aren't the most bubble-pop things I've heard and their great.

Nope, but the better stuff was.
In the latter of their career, John and George were the real strong points. Sure, Paul had great songs in the last half of The Beatles; Blackbird, Long and Winding Road, The last half of Abbey Road. But Johns stuff was much more impressive at that time.

&i'm gonna get a beatles album, and actually get into them. Which one should I get? I think I said it earlier I liked their stuff along the lines of blackbird and hide your love away.

Blackbird and Hide Your Love Away are two totally different periods. It would be hard to tell you an album that would reflect those styles since they were on vastly different albums. I suggest Let it Be. You would love Across the Universe and most of the songs on that album. The White Album is always good, Sgt Pepper. All good.
