I'm not too well versed in folk metal, but Lyriel might be what you're looking for.

Please don't hate me for writing this, but I have to be honest... I don't really understand the point of this thread. However I am a noob when it comes to music... Hopefully my post is somewhat relevant... I like bands that mix rap with rock. (e.g.: Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Linkin Park, and Slipknot.) Can you name any other bands that mix rap with rock?

Hollywood Undead, P.O.D. , Papa Roach, Zebrahead, Tech N9ne mixes some of his songs that way, Street Sweeper Social Club, Rage Against the Machine, Saliva, Flobots, Fort Minor, some Nonpoint songs and some Wicked Wisdom songs as well, Kevin Rudolf, Kid Cudi has some songs like that as well.

Very early Red Hot Chili Peppers, and some Beastie Boys.

Hi peeps,

This will be my first post to these forums;

I currently have a music collection, but it's all relatively old, and I'm looking for a couple of bands (or whatever you call 'em) to freshen it up a tad.

Before I discuss the current stuff:
Music of the past few years I've listened to (might be missing a few since I'm noting these from memory in about a minute )
- Slipknot
- Linkin Park
- Pandemonium (d&b kinda stuff)

Cant seem to dig:
AC/DC
Three doors down

Current bands i enjoy:
- Soil (/ Soilwork)
- Blue Stahli
- Celldweller
- Divine Heresy
- Disturbed
- Airbourne
- Mnemic
- only a select number of songs from Scar Symmetry, Dagoba & Sybreed

I've recently started to listen to the more 'electronic'- type deals such as trance and hardstyle, tough that doesn't seem to fit my tastes entirely.

Surely there people on this forum will be able to throw some suggestions at me! (Even better if the suggestion is available in .flac format, since I'm trying to fill about 25Gigs worth of (new) songs.

Why not get involved in our "weekly mixtape" thread, one thread down? You'll find a wide variety of music here and get to know some of the members too, who may be able to introduce you to music you may like.

Also, try perusing the journals section.
