Ugh, I forgot about this one til just now. The third verse of this absolutely kills me every time.

----------------------------------------------------------

My city's still breathing, but barely it's true
Through buildings gone missing like teeth
The sidewalks are watching me think about you
Sparkled with broken glass
I'm back with scars to show
Back with the streets I know
Will never take me anywhere but here

The stain in the carpet, this drink in my hand
The strangers whose faces I know
We meet here for our dress rehearsal to say
"I wanted it this way"
Wait for the year to drown
Spring forward, fall back down
I'm trying not to wonder where you are

All this time lingers undefined
Someone choose who's left and who's leaving...

Memory will rust and erode into lists
Of all that you gave me:
A blanket, some matches, this pain in my chest
The best parts of lonely
Duct tape and soldered wires
New words for old desires
And every birthday card I threw away

I wait in 4/4 time
Count yellow highway lines
That you're relying on to lead you home

--"Left & Leaving" by The Weakerthans

Well, I listen to the weather
And he's changed his tone of voice
And he can see it on the radar
Only seven hours away

Well, there's gonna be a snowstorm
When the TV's goin' out
And they got nothin' else to think of
And they're letting me go home

Well, I'm lookin' at the snowflakes
They all look the same
And the clouds are goin' by me
They're playin' some kind of game

Well, you know there's a snowstorm
When the TV has gone out
And they got nothin' else to think of
And they're letting me go home

-Galaxie 500, Snowstorm

Snowstorm is my favourite song off of On Fire because I absolutely love winter and it captured the warm, bleak mood of winter very well. I think this is my personal anthem, because it reminds me of all of the times I was out in a mountain of scarves and jackets trying to stay warm while I was with my friends at 7:00AM in a snowstorm. It just generally brings back happy, warm memories.

My favorite line from that song would be "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Great song. Galaxie 500 have some of the best 'simple' lyrics ever.

My toes can talk
And they're smiling at me
"Come down," they say
Not afraid anymore

- "Decomposing Trees"

Galaxie 500's lyrics = the bomb.

What Dream Pop album would you (or anybody else) recommend me next? Sigur Ros and Galaxie 500 are the only artists I've heard and I love them to death.

I think 7% Solution's All About Satellites and Spaceships is a borderline masterpiece, but my dream pop-digging friends seem to think it's 'just good'. Slowdive's a lot like G500 in a bunch of ways (somewhat midtempo, dense, reverberated guitars and those 'little means a lot' lyrics). Their album Souvlaki is a bit monotonous, but it has a trademark beauty to it.

This is also a fairly well-done list on the genre(s). The maker of it hates G500, but he knows quite a bit about the genre and touches on a few popular releases and a lot of hidden gems:
