Turned me into a fan anyway. Fantastic avvy, by the way.

Album title: No Rain, No Rose
Artist: John Craigie
Genre: Folk, Country, World Music
Nationality: American
Release date: January 27
Position in Discography: Fifth
Fear Factor: Reasonably Low
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little
Average RYM Score: There, but not rated
I wonder how many times this guy has to say, no, not John Craig! Odd name. Good start though with some violin and harmonica, rolling guitar, very pleasant, and he has a nice voice. Love the gentle piano on “Highway Blood”, but I could do without the talking at the end of it. What's the point of that? Ah ****: more “candid” talking. I suppose he thinks this makes the album “real”, but it's actually just annoying. To me, anyway. And it's a real pity, cos that nonsense prefaces a beautiful track in “Savannah”, and then yet more ****ing talking! I'm telling ya: he's losing a rating point for this. I dunno: when this guy is good he's very good, but then he can dip really badly like with the rockabilly-influenced “Bucket List Grandmas” (what?) JESUS ****ING CHRIST STOP WITH THE ****ING BANTER! We don't care: it doesn't sound “real”, it's just very ****ing annoying and losing you more points all the ****ing time!

You know, I really wanted to like this when it started, but he's ****ing ruined it with these “whimsical” or “candid” or whatever-the-**** he wants to call it ****ing ****ing talking! Jesus! I feel like turning it off right now. But I won't. Calm down, Trollheart, calm down. Take a pill. Right. Right. Right. Ahem. “Live with Less” sounds just like a ripoff of a Paul Simon song off Graceland, and I'm not saying that because he's pissing me off. In fact, he's actually robbing a few melodies along the way on various songs. Nice harmonica though. Right. The song is about thirty seconds short of the end, so here comes more inane talk. The only way I'm gonna get through this is if I push forward and go on to the next track. **** you, Craigie! This is not funny and it is not cute. You ****.

Okay, “Light Has Dimmed” sounds exactly like something but I can't place it. Good fiddle work. Very bouncy. Trying to stay positive here. Well holy ****! No talking for once. And now a cover of Gregory Alan Isakov's “I am California”. Nice. Okay, I made it through. But that was much tougher than it needed to be. I say again: ****.

Check out more from this artist? If it has more nonsensical talking in between the tracks, he can **** right off.
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Always

Were there literally no metal releases in all of January?

Gravedigger, Sepultra.

Kreator is coming up soon for him to review.

I can't wait to see him bail out on Migos which is coming up soon too.

Album title: SweetSexySavage
Artist:Kehlani
Genre: R&B/Pop
Nationality: American
Release date: January 27
Position in Discography: Debut (though she had two mixtapes prior)
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Not that much no
Average RYM Score: 2.86
As you all know, R&B is not my thing, and the fact that this album opens with the spoken equivalent of “I am Woman, hear me roar” doesn't do much to settle my nerves. Seventeen tracks (including the spoken intro) doesn't help either. In fairness though, the music and the songs are not bad. I mean, it's not something I'd come back to, but it's not making me wish it was over either. Yeah, it's pretty okay. Again, this is not my thing, so someone who is into this will probably get a whole lot more out of it than I am, but even I can admit to being mildly impressed here. Given a few more listens I could probably get into this. But time marches on, and so must I.

Check out more from this artist? It's possible, maybe
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Not really my bag. Maybe, but unlikely

So there were two metal releases in all of January? Both of which were made by bands who just so happen to be established? I think your wiki list is probably ****.

Speak to Wiki not me. I already told you, this is the list I'm using. I don't make Branigan's Law, I just enforce it.

But it's clearly an incomplete list, making the entire purpose of this thread null and void.
