I'm about 25 albums short of the end of March now, so anyone who wants to check the list and suggest up to three albums that aren't on it, to be reviewed when I do April, now is your chance. To be fair to myself, total of 12 (ie up to three from four members or one each from twelve members) and all have to be in by the time I finish the current month, in this case, March.

Album title: Automaton
Artist: Jamiroquai
Genre: Funk
Nationality: American
Release date: March 31
Position in Discography: Eighth
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? Heard of them
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 3.08
Wait a minute! That's not ...? No. For a moment there I thought the Matt Johnson checked in the credits was THE Matt Johnson, of The The fame, but of course it's just a coincidence. Different guy. The little I know of Jamiroquai is limited to their hit singles, which at the time I didn't like but I was a different person, musically, back then, so this is really the first chance I have to properly listen to and maybe appreciate this band. Good opener anyway, uptempo and very groovy, while “Cloud 9” reminds me a lot of Daft Punk. It's real funky, man! “Something About You” has a very ELO feel about it, with the orchestral backing, and what a sweet infectious bassline running “Nights Out In the Jungle”. There are just a clutch of great songs on this album, such as “We Can Do It”, “Summer Girl” and nearly every other track really. Can only express this as being totally cool and funky. Man.

Check out more from this artist? I might do, now
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yeah

Holy ****. You’re only 1/3 there? Goddamn.

Thanks for explaining it again
I’ve had to relearn it several times.

Album title: Starflower
Artist: Jennifer Paige
Genre: Pop
Nationality: American
Release date: March 31
Position in Discography: Fifth
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A bit
Average RYM Score: 2.67
Well all I know of Jennifer Paige is that song “Crush”, so the opener is not what I expected: very dramatic, sweeping and powerful, and it's continuing in that vein. No empty pop/dance songs here, at least so far. Very impressed with this. “Like a Bomb” is the first ballad and it certainly hits like several pounds of Semtex. Man, that is dramatic and emotional! I may have to rethink the image I've created of this woman musically. It's hard to pick a standout here; they're all amazingly good, but “To the Madness,” “The Devil's in the Details”, the title track, the already mentioned “Like a Bomb” are all serious contenders. And “January”. And ... ah, **** it: just buy the damn thing. You won't regret it.

Check out more from this artist? Oh for sure
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yep

(I wanted “Like a Bomb” but this was the only video from the album I could find. You would not believe how many results there were for “Crush”. **** it, people: she's more than just that one song. Listen. To. This. Album. Now!)
Expectation Index: 10

(Gigantic Debaser: here's a good example of how the EI works. I had put this as a FF of “Moderate”, not expecting to be impressed. I was blown away. So now the EI is a big fat red ten, meaning I was totally wrong, as wrong as I could be in my original assessment).

Jeez man! I started this in around September. It takes approximately a month to do a month, and given my delay due to depression recently, I think I'm lucky to be where I am. I don't expect to be finished till Sept 2018. And I'm not a third of the way, only a quarter.

It is, but I have no illusions about completing it any sooner, and there's really no deadline to meet, so though I try to get a minimum of three to four albums done a day, if I miss out one day it kind of doesn't matter. Also, it's fun. Mostly.

You have missed the following excellent albums:

Kelly Lee Owens - Kelly Lee Owens
Fen - Winter
Varg - Nordic Flora Series Pt. 3: Gore-Tex City

It is possible that the last two are on your to-do list already, if so, just ignore them and pretend I only made one suggestion.

I'll check; if they're not on the list then I'll review them when I do April. If they are, I'll let you know. Is that Varg as in, THE Varg?
